Photojournalism- Domino Effect

By Aparajit Iyer and Arjun Kumar

This month’s edition really gave us a run for our money!! When we first heard the theme “The Domino Effect” it really got us thinking. Unlike previous themes, this one was not easy to portray in images. But much like how the Domino Effect works, all we needed was the first idea. And then the chain reaction set off!

In the right perspective, you will find this phenomenon all around you! From ‘Wave After Wave’ in the oceans, to our favorite NDP firecrackers, ‘Cracking in Chronology’! The Domino Effect is nothing but an accurate outline of our ‘Circle Of Life’, from the age of coming to the coming of age, and even after. One of the landmarks of our age has been the rapid advances of our ‘Digital Revolution’. Code after code is all you see, gadget after gadget is all you get!

The most contextual example of the Domino Effect is the Covid-19 pandemic. One misaction in the dragon’s land, led not to an equal and opposite reaction, but an amplified chain reaction. With economies, medical infrastructure, industries, and human beings, collapsing one after the other, ‘Heal the World’, is all we pray!

In the darkest of times, we simply look up to the sky. On clear days, it will rain ‘Heavenly Dominoes’. And on rainy days, the message is clear. ‘Flash. Strike. Repeat.’
